Next Up: The Hordes of Gaz Za

The next bits"on the bench" are the start of an ongoing Circle Orboros wargroup.

We'll be moving away slightly from the green/gold scheme but we're sticking with the "white" pureblood.  (If it ain't broke - don't fix it).

International Playboy

The Gonk Machine is really proud to have supplied the first of (hopefully) many painted gonks for use in modelling shoots for Star Player Cards.  The brilliant sculptor Rykar Jové from Spain has been responsible for bringing us the Star Bowl fantasy football teams as well as some other well known lookalikes. Check him out on Facebook.

Some people may recognise the Daventry Blue Hawks pogoer from a #bloodbowl pitch near you.

All Chaos (as usual).

Here's the start of some 40K Space Marines.

The colour scheme has been all planned out for me so no thinking required!  Just lots and lots of layers of Stormvermin Fur.  (Please could GW stop playing with the paints?)

More to come shortly...

Contagion - Team Shot

Contagion have now been safely delivered to the (hopefully) proud owner.

TheGonkMachine wishes them the very best of luck in their Bloodbowl season!

Is The Armour Too Dirty?

This "white" armour has almost meant the nail varnish remover came out!

The armour pieces were to start off white but then decayed and leaking fluids.  At first they were too pristine like a Space Marine or High Elf, with grey shadows and layers of white and whiter.

I think this brown/bone/white combo works better.

Over to Sparky Dave for his input!
Obviously, there's still a ton of work to be done but the armour is pretty important on these guys.

Squidboy/Ebola

Haven't had much of a sesh today as had chores to do.  However, whilst out and about I popped in the new(ish) games shop in Rugby Shadow Games.  They seem like a nice bunch and saw several other "Vaulters" over there.
I bought a new yellow Flash Gitz Yellow and a new "shade" Casandora Yellow both from GW - I'll be trying these out on the Chaos team to hilight the pus nodules on the various gonks.
Talking of the Chaos team here's the "Minotaur":
I need to splash some more paint on but this is the kind of "sea" look I'd been after.  (He won't be gloss later and he may change completely if Sparky Dave doesn't like him - it's all in the air!)

There's more time left in the day so I'm gonna crack on.

A Quick Pic

I've been persuaded to show a progress photo.

Not sure if you can see too much at the moment but here we go:

I had to gloss SquidBoy, (really called Ebola).  He's going to have very pale armour and a dark loin cloth.  He's gonna stand out anyway with his octopus head so I thought he should be really different to the rest of the team.  (I hope he's gonna be OK with Sparky Dave).

Contagion Big Guy

Today, been mostly working and then reworking on the big guy for the Contagion Chaos Bloodbowl team.  I call him SquidBoy.

I was going to blend from blue through to orange but there's an armoured waist where the blue/orange would take place. (It also started to look a bit "plasticine brown" if you know what I mean?

That lot came off.  I then decided to base then skin colour on greens and blues finishing with an orangey head.

No pics at the moment as it would spoil the surprise!

Contagion Cometh

Bloodbowl.  What a game.
I love to play but rarely win.  However, the gonks are fantastic!  (Let's hope the rumours are true for this year's "Mystery Box Game" from GW later on in the year).

Here's the start of a new team: Contagion

This is a new Chaos team that will start in the local Daventry TGV League in a couple of week's.

Just been playing with skin colours at the moment to get the colouring right. These are pretty "flat" at the moment to test.

The Beastmen have had the swords chopped off and I've carved out a thumb which looks better than the normal chopped off look. It doesn't take too long to do but is well worth the extra effort.

TGM Top Tip: Use a pin drill to start off the hole both in the top and bottom of the hand then use a scalpel to carve a thumb shape. (I use an old  fairly blunt scalpel blade for this - watch your fingers!!!)

It's been a long time.

Sorry.

What can I say?

This last 6-8 months had me so distracted with lots of family and work stuff that I have really not felt like blogging or even painting!  (Hard to believe for those that know me).

Anyway.  I start a new job on 8th July which will leave me with less money but more weekends!  Hopefully a much better place/people to work with, (except the two people that've been great in old work - Thanks!)

Right then, I have a couple of projects to get on with.

Back to thegonkmachine!

A big thank you for your patience.
